DESCRIPTION:Planned and executed by NGO Rebirth Beirut\, the World Music Day (“Fete de la Musique”) on June 21\, 2022 is a music event that brought together a large number of people who sang and danced along to the beat of local bands and a DJ until the after midnight. The event brought joy to the hearts of the residents after two years during which the capital suffered from destruction and sadness resulting from the disastrous 4th of August explosion. \nThis event coincided with the lighting of the historic St. Nicolas Stairs as part of the NGO’s ongoing initiative “Let’s Light Up Our Community”. Locals cheered as streetlamps flickered to life. The initiative restored the beat of life to St. Nicolas stairs in Gemmayze\, a traditionally touristic area in Beirut with a lot of businesses and nightlife and that had become empty and shrouded in darkness for the past 15 months.
