As part of its “Let’s Light Up Our Community” initiative, Rebirth Beirut completed the illumination of the Airport Road, from the ESCWA Building to the MEA Building, including three tunnels. Implemented in collaboration with MEDCO and with the support of Middle East Airlines, the project aims to improve visibility, enhance safety and upgrade a key gateway to the capital.

By restoring lighting along this important artery, the initiative contributes to a safer and more welcoming environment for residents and visitors, while demonstrating the positive impact that collaboration with private sector partners can have on the local community.

It pierces through the darkness of challenging times, reclaiming safety, restoring a sense of community pride, and serving as a glowing reminder that even the deepest tunnels can be guided back into the light when people unite for the common good.

How It All Started

Born as an immediate response to help citizens affected by blast. Rebirth Beirut was established on September 21, 2020 in response to the tragic blast that struck the city of Beirut on August 4, 2020.

More than 200 people lost their lives, thousands were injured and hundreds of thousands were left homeless, with massive damage to businesses and shops.

The level of destruction and suffering experienced in Beirut due to the blast was apocalyptic, coupled with the financial crisis and COVID-19 pandemic. This led to a major flight of skilled youth looking for opportunities abroad. Help us support Beirut.
