Artist Biography
Georges Meouchy
Born in Beirut in 1973, Georges Meouchy holds a Masters in Law. During 20 years of law practice, he developed a wide and deep understanding of social interactions. He observed countless physiognomies, shared emotions and developed further an already inborn sense of empathy.
It all started when a painting by Basquiat triggered in him an insatiable craving to create. An urge to lay on paper all these human expressions he encountered day after day.
As a self-taught artist, he started scribbling these human faces on paper. Later on, he carefully painted them, on canvas, with their joys, their fears, their greed, their nonchalance and their goodness.
In September 2022 Georges participated in Art to Learn, Art to Live Benefit online art auction along with notable Lebanese artists; the proceeds went to support student financial aid and cancer care.
March 2023: “Primal Impulse”, a solo show at Rebirth Beirut Space – Gemmayzeh, curated by Dr. Antoine Karam.January 2024: “Unmasked”, a solo show organized by Aida Cherfan Fine Art at Rebirth Beirut Space – Gemmayzeh.
