Artist Biography

Claude Saba

Claude Saba, born in Beirut, has always harbored a deep passion for painting, which blossomed from a young age. Her natural talent was evident early on, as she received numerous prizes during her childhood, showcasing her innate artistic abilities. For her, art was more than just a pastime; it was an emotional refuge, a space where she could freely create and express herself. This profound connection to art led her to pursue formal training at the Michael Angelo School of Arts after completing high school, where she honed her skills and deepened her understanding of various artistic techniques and styles.

Throughout different phases of her life, she explored several styles of painting, each exploration contributing to the development of her unique artistic identity. Eventually, she discovered her true calling in contemporary art, particularly in abstract and mixed media painting. This shift allowed her to convey her vision of the world with greater depth and personal expression. In her artwork, she merges drawing and collage with diverse stroking techniques, using bold and contrasting colors to capture the vibrant essence and atmosphere of her surroundings. Much of Claude’s artwork is autobiographical in nature, translating her life experiences, emotions, and inner world onto the canvas. Female figures often serve as the focal point of her abstract compositions, embodying her passions, pains, and changing states of mind. These figures, rendered in abstract form, become a powerful medium through which she communicates her personal journey and emotional landscapes.

In recent years, she has ventured into the realm of abstract expressionism, further expanding her artistic repertoire. This new direction in her work emphasizes improvisation and spontaneity, with energetic gestures and dynamic strokes that reflect her inner energy and visual realities. Through this experimentation, Claude’s art has evolved to embody a more raw and immediate expression, capturing the essence of her emotions and the world around her.

Her works are permanently exhibited at her own gallery, Claude Saba’s Gallery, and have been showcased at various prestigious venues, including Arthaus Beirut, Smallville Hotel Beirut, Rebirth Beirut, the Sheikh Zayed Exhibition Hall at the Lebanese American University – Beirut, as well as international locations like LAU in New York, Times Square in New York City, Dubai DIFC, London, and Venice.
