Artist Biography

Elie Rizkallah

Elie Rizkallah is an artist, born in 1969 in Deir el Kamar, Lebanon.

Having grown up during the Lebanese Civil War, he was always fascinated by abandoned buildings. Painting became a means of survival for him, a way to transform reality into beauty.

In 1992, he graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the Lebanese University’s Institute of Fine Arts and immediately began his career as artist. Cities in perspective, buildings, façades – architecture has been the central theme of his work from the beginning.

Moving from reality towards abstraction, he explored how constructions shape urban landscapes and influence our imagination. In parallel, he collaborated with prominent interior design firms, creating hand-drawn perspectives for their projects, including palaces in Arab countries and private mansions in Paris.

Since 1992, he exhibited in Lebanon, both solo and collective exhibitions. In 2020, he was invited to an artist residency in Paris by the urban planning agency 360, leading to his first exhibition in the city.

Due to the situation in Lebanon, Elie Rizkallah relocated to Paris in 2021 to continue his artistic career. That same year, he was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Paris City Hall 9th Arrondissement during his exhibition Beirut in Perspective.

Since March 2023, Elie has been an artist-in-residence at Les Ateliers Daguerre.
