Description
My cityscape paintings explore well the contrast between light and darkness. These paintings reflect themes of resilience and endurance; offering a visual narrative of human perseverance, and the balance between darkness and light in both the world around us and within us.
“Day Gone” captures a city at dusk, where an orange, almost unnatural light illuminates a grimy urban landscape, symbolizing the brief moments of hope amidst the struggle of a difficult day
Artist Biography
Rosy Daniel
Rosy Daniel’s art is an intimate reflection of her personal journey. She is inspired by the places and faces that have shaped her life.
Raised in Beirut, a city of contrasts by the sea, she recreates its chaotic architecture with its beautiful old houses and towering skyscrapers. Heavy and unsettled skies take center-stage in these paintings, as she conveys the darkness and the danger, and sometimes the light and hope.
The reproduction of the places she has been to crystalizes the images in her memory and enables her to project them through a personal lens. The landscapes are reimagined and often reconstructed by placing landmarks and iconic buildings in different neighborhoods.
In her more recent body of work, she explores contemporary portraiture. She paints familiar and unfamiliar faces that captivate her. Working on portraits of loved ones that have passed has served as an important step in her mourning process.
